When I opened this practice in 1986, travel medicine was not yet a specialty. Four decades later our aim is the same: to send you off well prepared, and to be here when you come home. My colleagues and I look forward to seeing you.

We are in the Park 55 Building at 110 East 55th Street, between Park and Lexington Avenues. Look for the Park 55 sign, then take the elevator to the 16th floor.
Book your consultation
Four to six weeks before departure is ideal, but it is never too late. Reserve a time online or by phone as soon as your dates are set.
Meet a travel medicine specialist
We review your destination, itinerary, and health history, then build a plan covering vaccines, malaria prevention, and food and water precautions.
Get vaccinated the same day
You receive your vaccines and documentation during the visit, along with any prescriptions recommended for your trip.

Every vaccine is priced per dose. A $25 scheduling fee collected at booking is applied toward your visit and is refundable with at least 24 hours' notice. We do not accept insurance, but you receive an itemized receipt to submit for possible reimbursement. HSA and FSA cards are welcome.

A referral center for travel-related illness
Full diagnostic laboratory capabilities include examination for diarrheal pathogens, parasites, schistosomiasis, tuberculosis, malaria, dengue, chikungunya, and tick-borne infections including Lyme disease. The practice's in-office laboratory is CLIA-certified and provides same-day PCR results for gastrointestinal and respiratory specimens, often within a few hours. We are a founding member and the New York City site of GeoSentinel, the emerging infectious disease network of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the International Society of Travel Medicine (ISTM).

Common questions
Before you book
How far in advance should I come in?
Ideally 4 to 6 weeks before departure, because some vaccines need more than one dose or time to become effective. It is never too late for a pre-travel consultation, though, so come in even if you are leaving soon. Vaccines are given during the same visit. See why a vaccine series takes time.
Do I need a consultation to get a vaccine?
Yes. A pre-travel consultation ($95 per person) is required before any vaccines can be administered or medications prescribed. A child under 13 who attends with an adult is $65. During the consultation we review your destination, itinerary, and health history to determine what is recommended for your trip.
What does the pre-travel consultation include?
The consultation is individualized to your itinerary. It covers required and recommended vaccines, food and water precautions, malaria risks, personal safety risks, medical contacts in the area of travel, and appropriate prescriptions and discussion regarding travelers' diarrhea, malaria prevention, altitude sickness, and other destination-specific health risks. How much does a visit cost?
The pre-travel consultation is $95 per person, and each vaccine is priced per dose. For example, the yellow fever vaccine is $295, the typhoid injection is $215, hepatitis A is $135 per dose, and Tdap is $115. Do you accept insurance?
No. We do not accept insurance, but we provide an itemized receipt that you may submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement. We accept cash, checks, all major credit cards, HSA/FSA cards, and Apple Pay.
What is the difference between required and recommended vaccines?
A required vaccine is one for which a country's government requires formal proof of vaccination in order to enter the country, such as yellow fever for certain African and South American countries. A recommended vaccine is one suggested to protect you from illness. Travel vaccines we offer.
Can you give the yellow fever vaccine and the yellow card?
Yes. We are an official Yellow Fever Vaccination Center, authorized by the World Health Organization (WHO) to validate the International Certificate of Vaccination (ICV), often called the yellow card. We give the FDA-approved YF-Vax vaccine and sign and stamp your certificate on site. The yellow fever vaccine is $295, plus the $95 consultation. Learn more about the yellow fever vaccine.
What do I do if I become ill while traveling?
We have an extensive resource of physicians worldwide, personally known to us, and we can provide you with contact information before your departure. We recommend travel and evacuation insurance, and we can provide you with 24-hour contact information and email access. I do not live in New York City. Can you still help?
Yes. We offer virtual pre-travel consultations. We recommend vaccinations based on your destination and health history and send any prescribed medications to your local pharmacy.
Do you see groups, companies, and schools?
Yes. We accommodate businesses, corporate groups, schools, and other organizations with customized travel health services, including pre-deployment services and periodic post-travel screening. Where are you located?
The Park 55 Building, 110 East 55th Street, 16th Floor, New York, NY 10022, between Park and Lexington Avenues in Midtown East. We are open Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM. From October 1, Thursday to 6:00 PM. The nearest subway stops are the E and M at Lexington Av/53 St, the 6 at 51 St, and the 4, 5, 6, N, R, W at 59 St. New patients are always welcome.
